The second system to look at now is the fuel system. We had a group discussion about the major components of the fuel system found in a car and stated each of its function.

Major components:

Tank/Cell - storage of fuel

Pumps - generates pressure to keep the fuel moving

Filter - removes unwanted sediments from the fuel

Regulator - maintains pressure to remain constant

Injectors - atomises fuel and supply it to the combustion chamber

Baffle plates - restricts fuel flow from sloshing in the tank

and etc.

Associated system: ECU, temperature sensor, fuel sender unit, fuel gauge, etc.

It is important to know topics that are related to the mechanics of the fuel system. Such as:

Related topics:

Pressure, Thermodynamics, Hydraulics, Energy Conversion, etc.

Down below, you can see the schematic drawing and some of the major components found in a fuel system of a car.
